Tineke as a director
During my years in film school, I quickly sensed that my urge to hold a camera or boompole was not as great as my friends. And because they often lacked the skills to lead the storytelling side, I very naturally filled this role myself. I gradually shifted my focus from technical skills to directing. I discovered the possibilities of directing and a different way of doing storytelling than with just writing alone.
I always loved connecting with people and emotions, and directing gave me the chance to focus on both. My whole life, people have told me that I’m too indecisive, but when it comes to directing, the leading and decision making came naturally. I lead with my gut feeling and love deep diving into the depths of a character and their motives.
Over the years, my confidence and skill set grew and my urge to create increased. Currently I’m working on several different projects and can’t wait to show them all to you in the near future!
During my time in film school, I quickly realized that my passion for wielding cameras or managing boom poles didn’t match that of my peers. They often struggled with the intricacies of storytelling, a skill that came easily to me. As a result, I naturally assumed the role of storyteller. Gradually, my focus shifted from technical prowess to directing, which offered a fresh perspective on storytelling beyond the confines of writing alone.
Directing provided the perfect outlet for my love of connecting with people and emotions. Despite being labeled as indecisive in other areas of my life, I found that making decisions as a director came intuitively. I trust my instincts and adore delving deep into the characters and their motivations.
With each passing year, my confidence and expertise have grown, fueling an ever-increasing desire to create. Currently I’m working on several different projects and can’t wait to show them to you in the near future!
